I was diagnosed treated and medicated for lupus for 4 years. When i got to the point where I had to leave my job, 3 months later I got an email from my employer asking me to get disability saying they felt bad for me. My dr denied it all, cleared my medical record and my employment record went from sick to quit. I pee frothy urine sometimes still to this day. I still can't get medical help and drs/nurses make fun of me for saying I have lupus.

FMT should NOT be seen as so drastic. We now know there are 10,000 - 30,000 strains of bacteria in the gut of every person. The mix varies by person, by family (you get your first dose from Mom), by diet, by region. We know roughly how many there are. We don't know which: they haven't all been identified. In fact only a tiny fraction of them have been. And even there, we don't know what most of them do. We DO know they do SOMETHING: lack of them can sometimes produce medical outcomes. Your average good probiotic supplement will provide 6-10 strains of bacteria. So we have a way to go. An FMT supplies all the stuff in a typical person's gut: that's where we found it. We know that FMT is overwhelmingly safe: documented adverse medical results are vanishingly rare. We know that FMT is immediately available, near-free (cost of performing an enema - or do it yourself). We know that FMT is near 100% effective as a CURE for C-Diff and for a variety (a growing list) of ills that people face, many of them debilitating & sometimes eventually fatal. IBS for instance. FMT has ONE major drawback. YOU CAN'T PATENT IT. So the medical community will resist it & pharma firms will advise everyone just wait until we've identified all the bacteria in there so they can produce a pill with them all. Patented of course, so someone can make a billion dollars on it. And the only drawback to waiting & "being safe", is short-term (decades) of continued misery & unnecessary death in patients with IBS, C Diff & myriad other ills. But they're just patients. And if they die, no one LOOSES a billion dollars, right? So just hang in there, we'll have this fix real soon now...

I actually coded once due to flash edema while I was getting a CT scan done on my lungs. The last thing I remember was trying to get the tech's attention because I knew something was seriously wrong. Next thing I remember was waking up in the ICU. As the doctor was explaining what happened to me, I heard someone in the room across the hall expiring. I know it sounds weird, but I have survivor's guilt to this day from that experience. I am thankful for an experienced team who got me through the experience though. I am alive today because of them. So for anyone in the medical community here, know that we appreciate your work.

Speaking about colons, a friend of my daughter's has had colon issues forever with no diagnosis. Hes originally from the UK, was seen there, was seen in Germany, was seen by army medics and still nothing. It isnt rare for him to have blood in his stools or to cough up blood. He has now learned to live with it, sadly, as no doc has figured it out and tests keep coming back showing no abnormality. He's now working in Alberta, and we'll see if Canadian doctors can eventually figure it out.

Carbs being stored as fat in my liver has become an issue for me. My goal is to go from 192 current weight to 170. I'm probably not doing it properly though I just don't eat for days, and when I do it's a little bit of high protein and fat for micronutrients and muscle maintenance. I have high cholesterol and from what I understand when the glucose is low in cells it gives the cholesterol a chance to get put into the cells to be used. It'll be interesting to see lab results compared to now.

This is not a good study. There could be so many co factors. There was no tracking on if they kept to certian diets, not to metion 40% is not Keto at all. They had one deitary questionaire in the 80s then 25 years later the looked at who died. This study is not that helpful, we need so much more data about there life style and diet habits. That being said: I would love to know how staying Keto and going more plant based works out. Any follow up on it would be really interesting and would be great to hear about.

Evolutionarily, this kind of makes sense. If ticks make predators allergic to meat, then it makes more animals available for the ticks. However, it's anti-adaptive in the modern world in the sense that humans maintain 80% of the mammal biomass (either ourselves or our domesticated animals). However, it doesn't really matter because there are still plenty of humans and their animals, despite the alpha-gal syndrome.
